Was in the mood for fried catfish and stopped in here after picking up our kid from daycare. Out the gate, the service was amazing. One person brought us to the table, while another person brought us a high chair and another person took our order in a way that seemed carefully choreographed. I've been to fancy restaurants that didn't have that level of coordination. The service was efficient and prompt throughout the meal. Onto the food, I ordered the catfish with a side of potato salad and mac & cheese. Nailed it on all three counts. The catfish was crispy and well battered without being greasy. The potato salad had a nice mustard tang and a nice crunch from the celery. The mac and cheese was delicious without being over the top. The portions were pretty generous, so while I wish I'd left room for dessert, will be back to try it next time.
I visited a fantastic soul food restaurant in Montclair last weekend for brunch, and it was such a treat! This type of cuisine is a rare find in the area, so it was a real gem. We enjoyed homemade cornbread with strawberry butter, a flavorful catfish entree, and salmon cakes with grits - everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The food here is great! For drinks, we tried the Uptown and the lavender iced tea, both were sweet and refreshing. For our mains, we ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with potato salad and the smothered chicken with grits and homemade fries. The pulled chicken was flavorful and tender, while the potato salad was very tasty. The smothered chicken was rich, savory, and satisfying. The homemade fries were well seasoned potato wedges with onions and other veggies. The grits were rich and creamy, simply amazing!!! We were too stuffed to try dessert, but everything was so good! The service was excellent, AJ was our server and he was very attentive and friendly throughout the meal. The decor was very nicely put together, I especially liked the black chandeliers! Will definitely be coming back to try other items.
This place is definitely expensive and some will say overpriced but the food hits. My favorite meal is the beef rib, macaroni and collards + deviled eggs appetizer. The beef rib is so tender, no knife needed. Macaroni is creamy and cheesy. Collards have great flavor. Deviled eggs are different but tasty
The food was amazing. Service was efficient. Ambience was good. It's on the small side, but the decor was attractive Location is perfect. If you are attending a show at the Wilmont theater it's directly across the street. I had chicken and waffles which was absolutely delicious and my husband had the barbecue chicken with yams. Another friend had the grilled shrimp with grits. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed all their meals Will definitely be returning soon
This was soooo delicious Pros: the cat fish was made to perfection The greens and the Mac and cheese went crazy !!!! Cons : a bit pricey in door dash & I would have liked for them to put napkins and a fork in the bag Price : $46 on door dash for a meal
Was craving corn bread so I decided to order delivery from Sweet T's. You get to choose if you want the corn bread toasted or not and you can choose the sauce. I chose the strawberry butter sauce because I had never heard of that. The corn bread was okay, it was very dry, maybe because it was toasted but the butter was delicious it really did taste like strawberries. We ordered the fried chicken and pulled Mac and cheese for mains. These were so good! The Mac and cheese was amazing (although it was a small container). For sides we tried the fried potato wedges and the black eyed peas and sausage. The potato wedges were okay, maybe better in person. The black eyed peas were not my favorite, there was no flavor and there were only 3 tiny sausage pieces. Overall; the food was okay, I would say it was way overpriced especially for the smaller quantities. But the mac and cheese and fried chicken were amazing and I would order those again and again.
